SCEA Members’ Engagement with Government Agencies



The meeting was graced by the Managing Director of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA),
Capt. William Ruto, and attended by key industry leaders, including SCEA Chairman
Mr. John Msafari, SCEA Director Mr. Jackson Wambua, KenTrade CEO Mr. David
Ngarama, and KIFWA Executive Officer Mr. Wycliffe Wanda. Representatives from various government agencies also participated, including; Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) ,KenTradeKenya Revenue Authority (KRA),Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) ,Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA),Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) ,Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) ,Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS).
The meeting was attended by over 100 members drawn from exporters, importers,
manufactures, clearing agents, and service providers including insurance companies.


KEY ISSUES DISCUSSED WERE:
1. Mapping of information from iCMS to KenTrade System.
2. Refund Framework for Erroneous Permit Payments.
3. Timely Notifications for System Changes
4. The need to embed the developed SLAs, as a framework of collaboration within
the Mombasa Port and Northern Corridor community charter.
5. Having automated the process of issuance of the certificate of Export.
6. Export Process Through Kilindini.
7. Application of Bank Guarantees.
8. PPB Permit Approval Delays.
9. CAK Product Excel Sheet Updates.
10. CAK Permit Requirements among others.
